The laptop runs XP Home and that machine runs fine. (But why would it be OK on the laptop which does the same thing?) We were wondering if it was a virus from the Starry Night server when we do an automated download of the comets and asteroid databases. The other thing that baffles me, is that after a very clean re-install, the same thing is happening. He was controlling his mount as well but his also says that there is no plug-in installed and there is!! When I called my friend up tonight, I thought his program would be OK after seeing that my laptop was running SN perfectly, but he has exactly the same things going haywire with the program. Both have SP-2 updates and version 3.5 of MS Net Framework) (My Desktop Machine is XP-Pro and the laptop has XP Home. It seems that nothing is messed up there. The funny thing is that I have it running on my laptop and using the ASCOM drivers. ![]() It all worked perfectly for the last 2 years and now, all of a sudden this has happened. My machine is running a 128 MB video card, I have a 2.4GHz, and 2 Gigs of RAM. I’m running XP Pro on my desktop machine with all current Windows updates. I have re-installed along with the Version 5.8 update and get the same thing. I have removed it from ADD\REMOVE PROGRAMS, Deleted the directory under PROGRAM FILES, and killed every instance of it in the registry. It looks as if the program is totally undependable now. The ASCOM platform and plug-in IS installed under SKY DATA\Plug-Ins but under TELESCOPE, it indicates No plug-in installed. They were definitely there within the last few days, for the last two years. ![]() This was the key to me detecting something amiss when the Messier objects didn't show up on the screeen. EG: VIEW > DEEP SPACE > There are no Messier Objects, Bright NGC Objects, Hubble Images, Spitzer Images, and Chandra Images. All truncated headings have a tilde (~) sign included in the name. On the Main Tool Bar, Some of the Drop-Down Boxes now have their headings truncated. We are both REGISTERED users with different Keys. These SAME problems are occurring on my friend’s machine with the same version. Some major glitches have occurred within the last week or so. ![]()
